The Pintados Festival is a cultural-religious celebration in Tacloban based on the body-painting traditions of the ancient tattooed "pintados" warriors. In 1986, the Pintados Foundation, Inc. was formed by the people of Tacloban to organize this festival in honor of Sr. Santo Niño.
In accordance to this, we present a fashion photography blog inspired by the said festival, mixing it up with a touch of modernity. Carrying out a Bohemian-like style paired with white tattoos to bring out the patterns commonly seen in Pintados festivals. Styles used were divided into two parts, presenting Pintados fashion day and night— For a 24/7 modern Pintados slaying look.
For the the day fashion, we focused more on every outfit's colour vibrancy and patterns to highlight the famous Aztec motif at every Pintados festival.
As for the night fashion— Although colours were minimal, we opted to make use of laces that would surely accentuate the pintados look.
Also, using colored powder and chalk for the background and effects to give out colours so that we won't lose the festive aura.
Through this shoot, a newfound appreciation for the Pintados festival has been attained. May this project help transcend the vibrant culture and tradition of the Pintados festival in ways never seen before.
